Committees
Organizing major events for alumni is the responsibility of the Member Services Committee. Traditionally these have included a Fall Golf Tournament and a Spring Curling Bonspiel.
The Campus Events and Student Liaison Committee explores opportunities for networking with student leaders on campus to facilitate, or enrich, both existing and prospective student activities. Areas of traditional Alumni-student interaction include Career Week and the Aggie GoodTimes Banquet. This committee coordinates alumni support for student yearbook ads and volunteers at Convocation.
The Joint Communications Committee ensures strong communications among the Board of Directors of the Association and existing and prospective members, between existing members, and between the OACAA and the OAC Alumni Foundation and other groups and agencies.
The program administered by the Honours and Awards Committee provides public recognition for distinguished faculty and alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the agrifood industry and rural society and/or to the University of Guelph. This committee prepares nominations for the OACAA's awards to faculty who have achieved excellence in research, teaching and technology transfer (extension). Also, it selects alumni for nomination for awards offered by the UGAA, and the OACAA's nominees for induction into the Canadian and Ontario Agricultural Halls of Fame.
The role of the Marketing and Membership Committee is to encourage in-course OAC students and former graduates of College programs to be actively participating members of the Association. Activities include implementing programs that drive involvement in Association functions, representing alumni at convocations of OAC degrees and diplomas, and recruiting alumni volunteers to participate in various OAC student activities and in teaching programs.
The financial affairs of the Association are handled by the Joint Investment Committee of the OAC Alumni Association and Alumni Foundation.
