Probationary Status
Academic Probation is based on three pieces of information: cumulative average, semester average and the number of credits that the student has attempted. Students must meet the conditions outlined in Schedule 1 or Schedule 2 to be allowed to continue on probationary status. Students should read the definition of each to understand which set of conditions they must follow. In general terms, Schedule 1 includes students entering from high school and Schedule 2 is for transfer students. Please read the calendar description for more detail.
Probation 2 Status
A student on probation in the fall semester who does not achieve the required 60% semester average will not be ‘Required to Withdraw', but will be put on Probation 2 for the winter semester. In the winter semester a student can either accept the withdrawal for two semesters (winter and summer) and apply for readmission to the following fall semester, or complete the winter semester and will be required to achieve a 60% semester average to be able to continue on probation. If the required 60% semester average is not achieved, the student will be required to withdraw starting with the summer semester. In this case, students are eligible to apply for re-admission for the following winter semester. Probation 2 is granted only when a student fails to meet the continuation of studies regulation after a fall semester.
