Student Federation of Ontario Agricultural College (SFOAC)

Many OAC students take an active part in university life at OAC through student councils and at the Guelph campus through the Student Federation of the OAC (SFOAC). The organization promotes student activities and class spirit.

AGAWARE

This club was developed in 2006 to promote awareness of modern agricultural practices within the University community. It will promote a fact-based, unbiased critique of all forms of Canadian agriculture.

Animal Science Society

The Animal Science Society is a group of students who share one thing: a love and devotion to animals. It has hosted a behind-the-scenes trip to the African Lion Safari, a Guide Dog guest speaker, Career Night, a reading week trip to New York to visit Universities, zoos and farms. Also, it has organized BBQs, a children's display area, and Snowflake the fistulated cow exhibit during College Royal. If anyone would like to volunteer for committee positions for Career Night, Reading Week Trip or College Royal, feel free to send us an email.

CAMA Student Chapter

CAMA is a student chapter of the national Canadian Agri-Marketing Association. Each year they compete at the National Agri-Marketing Association competition in the US.

Canadian Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (CanACT)

CanACT is the first international chapter of the US-based National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow. It is designed for students with a keen interest in agricultural communications. Everyone is welcome to join, in particular students interested in agricultural communication.

Dairy Science Club

Learn about the Canadian and global dairy industry in this group. The Dairy Science Club provides a forum where students can combine what they learn in the traditional classroom with what they will learn at club meetings.

Environmental Sciences Student Executive

The Environmental Sciences Student Executive (ESSE) provides social and extracurricular learning activities that promote pride and a sense of community in the program as well as acting on behalf of the BSc(Env) students on committees within the University and the local community. Environmental Sciences students host a public symposium each year that features world-renowned speakers and a series of workshops on topics that incorporate the natural, physical and social sciences.

Equestrian Club

The University of Guelph Equestrian Club (UGEC) is a non-profit, student-operated club that was formed by a small student group of horse enthusiasts in the 2002-2003 school year. It provides a base for horse enthusiastic students to get together to talk and learn about horses, ride in lessons of various disciplines, as well as compete at American IHSA and IDA competitions.

Food Science Club

The Food Science club is proud to expose the field to Food Science to the U of G student body and greater community. Club members enhance their knowledge of the food industry in trips to local business facilities. They also share their own expertise on social club activities and intramural teams. You can see what this exciting area of study is about at our annual College Royal exhibit featuring food sensory booths and legendary milkshakes.

Hort Club

The Horticulture Club is a group made up of people who share an interest in plants. While the focus is generally on floriculture, there is plenty or room for those in fruits, vegetables and cash crops. Meetings are held every other week on Wednesday evenings with other events throughout the school year. Annual events are the Greenhouse Conference and the Plant Sale at College Royal. Presently, our membership also includes production agriculture farmers, hobby gardeners and landscape architects.

Judging Club

The University of Guelph Judging Club is a fun group of people who meet every Wednesday night to simply judge! No experience is necessary. We judge all forms of produce, livestock and clothing and just about anything you can think of. We are an entirely student-run group and learn together to improve our skills and our oral reasons for judging. We send teams on judging trips to competitions in Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Nova Scotia, the United States, and our home competition, the Canadian Intercollegiate Judging Competition here in Guelph.

LASS - Landscape Architecture Student Society

Welcome to Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph, an internationally recognized program that is a proud part of OAC's School of Environmental Design and Rural Development. LASS works with fellow students and the faculty to coordinate both educational and social events and activities. LASS is made up of a council with representatives from each class of both the undergraduate and graduate programs so that all issues are communicated to the entire student body. In addition to class representatives, there is a full executive plus various committee members.

The University of Guelph Junior Farmers club is part of the provincial Junior Farmers Association of Ontario. The Junior Farmers' mission is: "Building Leaders, Building Communities." By becoming a member, you can join us in helping your community, developing your leadership skills, and meeting other great, rural youth.
