W.T. Ewen Entrance Scholarship   (8 @ $2,500 available)

The estate of the late Professor William T. Ewen, OAC faculty member who taught soil science, provides 11 entrance scholarships of $2,500 each to students entering an OAC Associate Diploma program at any campus. Apply by May 15th to your OAC campus awards office by letter outlining academic achievement based on Grade 12 grades (70% or higher) and participation in extracurricular and/or community activities and include a completed U of G Need Assessment form.

Qualification(s): Students entering an OAC Associate Diploma program at any campus who have financial need, have 70% or higher academic achievement in Grade 12 and have participated in extracurricular and/or community activities.

Associate Diploma (ADA) 125th Anniversary Scholarships (available)

The OAC Alumni Foundation and the alumni and friends of the diploma program sponsor 4 scholarships of $1,000 each in recognition of the 125th anniversary of the two year Associate Diploma programs. Apply by letter (no more than two pages) to the appropriate regional campus awards office by May 15th outlining involvement in student organizations, 4H, Junior Farmers, and rural community activities with an emphasis on leadership qualities and include plans for future career.

Qualifications: Students enrolled in any Associate Diploma program at Guelph, Alfred, Kemptville or Ridgetown who have completed semester two with a minimum cumulative average of 70% and who have demonstrated leadership ability in student organizations, 4-H, Junior Farmers or other rural community activities are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to students planning a career in farming or any aspect of the agrifood, turf or horticulture industries.

Blackburn Scholarship (available)

In commemoration of the 125th Anniversary of the Ontario Agricultural College, Dr. D.J. Blackburn, a retired faculty member in Rural Extension Studies and former Director of the Association Diploma Program has established this $500 scholarship. Apply by letter citing athletic and leadership contributions to your Regional Campus Awards Office by May 15th.

Qualification(s): OAC degree or diploma student who has participated in intercollegiate athletics and maintained a minimum cumulative average of 70%. Athletic excellence and leadership will be used to determine the recipient.

Keith Dixon Memorial Scholarship  (not available)

 Established in memory of Keith Dixon by his family, friends and colleagues at Farm Credit Canada, the Keith Dixon Memorial Scholarship provides a $1,000 scholarship to a student continuing in a diploma program at any OAC campus. Apply to your regional campus of OAC by May 15th with a two-page essay outlining your current involvement in farm activities and the reasons why you have chosen farming as your career.

Qualification(s): Students in any OAC Associate Diploma Program who have a cumulative minimum average of 65% or higher and have completed six credits are eligible.

OAC '59-A and Ralph Campbell Memorial Leadership  (available)

The Class of 59A sponsors a $500 scholarship for a student with a minimum cumulative average of 70% registered in any OAC diploma program.  Selection will be based on leadership abilities as displayed by involvement in 4H, Junior Farmer, other high school and community activities, involvement in judging, etc. and campus sports.  Apply by May 15th  to your regional OAC Awards Office with a one page letter outlining leadership and extracurricular involvement.

Dorothy and Clay Switzer OAC Diploma Leadership Scholarship (available)

The OAC Alumni Foundation established a $2,000 scholarship in recognition of Dr. Clay Switzer's contribution to OAC as Dean from 1972 to 1983.  This scholarship is for  a student in the Associate Diploma program who has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability by involvement in OAC student organizations and activities.  The current year's recipients of the OAC Associate Diploma in Agriculture "125 Scholarships" from Alfred, Kemptville, Ridgetown and Guelph will be invited to an interview.  The interviews will be timed to correspond with an OAC multi-campus fall student leadership event.  The eligible candidates are expected to participate in the leadership event.  (no application is required)

Gwen Karr Memorial Bursary (available)

A bursary of $1,000 is provided for an undergraduate student who is registered in an OAC degree or diploma program and who has demonstrated financial need. Apply to Student Financial Services, University of Guelph, 3rd Floor University Centre, Guelph, ON N1G 2W1 by October 1st.

David R. Leach Memorial Bursary (ACCESS AWARD) ($750 available)

A bursary of $1,000 is given by his family in memory of David R. Leach, who entered OAC in 1969 as a member of OAC'73 and who graduated with a BSc in Agricultural Economics in 1974. Apply by letter to Student Financial Services Apply to Student Financial Services, University of Guelph, 3rd Floor University Centre, Guelph, ON N1G 2W1 by October 1.

Qualifications: This bursary is supported by the Ontario Government's OSOTF program and is awarded to an OAC undergraduate degree or diploma student who is physically disabled, as determined by the Centre for Students with Disabilities, and who has demonstrated financial need and is eligible to continue.

OAC '43 and Gord Bennett Memorial Bursary (available)
The family and friends of R. Gordon Bennett, OAC '43, a former Deputy Minister of Agriculture, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program, have created this bursary of $500. Apply by letter with a completed Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by October 1.

Qualifications: OAC student with demonstrated financial need entering the Diploma, BSc(Agr) or BComm, Agricultural Business major, programs. Preference will be given to students whose primary family occupation is farming. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award.

OAC Diploma Alumni Bursaries (not available) (Details)

The Guelph OAC Diploma Alumni Group, with the aid of the OSOTF program, has created several awards of up to $1,000 each for students enrolled in any diploma program offered by OAC at Alfred, Guelph, Kemptville and Ridgetown campuses. Apply by October 1st  to your regional campus awards office with a one-page letter outlining your community and/or extracurricular activities including a completed University of Guelph Need Assessment Form.

Qualification(s): Students enrolled in any diploma program offered by OAC who have a demonstrated financial need and have maintained a cumulative average of 60% or higher are eligible. Preference will be given to students who have participated in community and/or extracurricular activities.

Ontario Grape Growers Bursary (available)

The Ontario Grape Growers Action Committee provides two awards of $500 for the support of diploma students in OAC. Apply to your Regional Campus Awards Office with a completed Need Assessment Form by October 1st . Diploma students at Guelph will apply to Student Financial Services with a completed Need Assessment Form.

Qualification(s): Diploma students with good academic standing in semesters 2 and 3 of a diploma program administered by OAC and demonstrated need of financial assistance.

Robert, Louis and Helen Shaw Memorial Scholarships (2 @ $1,000 available)   

The Shaw Scholarship Committee with the assistance of the Ontario Government's OSOTF program have established these awards (several awards of $1,000).. Apply by letter, including a summary of local agricultural activities and a completed Need Assessment Form, to your regional campus awards office by October 1st.

Qualification(s): Students registered the B.A.Sc, B.Comm, in Agricultural Business, B.Sc.(Agr.) or DVM or the Diploma programs at Alfred, Guelph, Kemptville or Ridgetown programs studying agriculture, horticulture, equine studies, food and nutrition or veterinary sciences with demonstrated financial need, a 70% cumulative average and involvement in local agricultural activities. Preference will be given to first year students from Peterborough County. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award.

T.K. Warley Bursaries (2 @ $1,000 available)

This award recognizes Professor T.K. Warley's significant contribution to the OAC Alumni Foundation and to students through teaching and promotion/development of "Experience Agriculture", the Association, with the aid of the Ontario government's OSOTF program, provides two bursaries of $1,500 each.  Students with demonstrated financial need who are in the second year of the Diploma in Agriculture program, or the Diploma in Horticulture program or semester 5 to 8 of any degree program within OAC are eligible.  A minimum 65% cumulative average is required, as is participation in student activities, governance, and/or college affairs.  A degree student may receive this bursary twice.  Apply by letter stating qualifications with a completed Needs Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by Oct. 1.

Class of OAC'59 Experiential Learning Travel Grant (available)

The Class of OAC'59, in recognition of their 50th anniversary since graduation, has established this award to assist students participating in meetings, conferences, seminars, tradeshows, course field trips, semesters abroad, etc.  Students registered in any undergraduate degree program of OAC who have completed a minimum 8.0 credits or students registered in the Diploma in Agriculture or Horticulture programs at Alfred, Kemptville or Ridgetown campuses or Turfgrass Diploma at the Guelph campus who have completed 6.0 credits are eligible.  Students must have a 70% cumulative average and must have travel related to their studies to be considered.  Selection will be based on relevance of intended travel and benefits to program of study.  Apply by May 15 to the OAC Awards Office or your Regional Campus Awards Office with a letter outlining planned travel, reasons for travel, dates of travel, estimated costs and expected benefits.  A reference letter from a faculty member providing criteria for relevance of intended travel and benefits to program of study would be beneficial

Kincardine Shippers Association Travel Grant (up to $1,000 available)

This grant has been established by the members of the Kincardine Shippers Association to assist OAC undergraduate and diploma students who wish to travel in pursuit of their educational goals. Students registered in OAC undergraduate or diploma programs with a minimum of 70% cumulative average who plan to participate in travel related to course study are eligible to apply. Selection will be based on the travel request benefits to the individual applicant and leadership potential based on information submitted in the application. Financial need will also be considered. Preference will be given to students from the Municipality of Kincardine and the Township of Huron-Kinloss. Applicants must submit a letter of no more than two pages outlining the intended study program or type of learning opportunity, reasons for choosing the program and the anticipated benefits of participation, along with a completed Financial Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services or the Regional Campus Awards Office by October 1. A letter of recommendation will be considered as part of the application.

OAC Diploma Travel Grants (up to $4,500 available)

This scholarship was established by industry and Guelph alumni to provide for one or more OAC diploma students who are planning to travel to increase their academic experience. Apply by May 15 to your Regional Campus awards office with a letter outlining the proposed travel plans, costs, and academic purpose accompanied by a letter of support from a faculty member endorsing the value of travel to further the academic experience or exposure opportunity.

Qualification(s): Travel can be provincial, national or international and can include students needing to travel for course activity among the campuses. Students enrolled in OAC diploma programs with a minimum 60% cumulative average at any campus of the University of Guelph who are travelling for coursework or experiential learning as part of the diploma program.
