OAC Public Lecture Features 2007 Superintendent in Residence
January 26, 2007
The Winter 2007 session of OAC's public lecture series continues on
Thursday, February 1 with this year's Turfgrass Superintendent in Residence
lecture. This annual program is presented with funding support from the OAC
Alumni Foundation.
While many golf course superintendents dream of hosting one major tournament
in their career, 2007 Superintendent in Residence Mark Kuhns has hosted a
number of them, including the 1989 US Senior Open, the 1994 US Open and 2000
US Amateur, and the 2005 PGA Championship.
In this lecture, Kuhns will discuss the complex process of preparing a golf
course for a major tournament as well as the challenges of cleaning up after
an event and restoring the property to its original state.
