OAC Students Bestowed Top Canadian Research Awards

Three OAC graduate students in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics have received top honours from the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society.
Richard Vyn, supervised by Profs. Brady Deaton and Karl Meilke, was awarded the Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis Award for his research on the effects of strict agricultural zoning on farmland values.
Kate Tsiplova and Predrag Rajsic tied for the Outstanding Master's Thesis Award. Tsiplova conducted an economic analysis of the effect of risk and uncertainty on commercial fishery management practices. Rajsic looked at factors contributing to excessive use of nitrogen fertilizer in Ontario.
