Presentations and Abstracts Available, First Annual Rural Research Workshop
July 8, 2011
The 1st Annual Rural Research Workshop (ARRW), From Policy to Research and Back Again, hosted by the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation (CRRF), was held in Ottawa on May 5. The Workshop provided an opportunity to critically re-inform and raise awareness of the research/policy dynamic; to enhance the understanding of emerging rural development policy and research priorities; and foster the development of more effective and efficient partnerships and interrelationships between policy and research.
"Many U of G graduate students played a major role in designing this national event and bringing it to fruition," says David Douglas, president of the CRRF and retired faculty member of OAC's School of Environmental Design and Rural Development. "The CRRF and its many partners are very pleased that the Rural Research Workshop was a success. There will be another in 2012."
The Canadian Rural Research Network (CRRN) - a partner of the ARRW - has posted the presentations made at the Workshop, as well as the abstracts of the 24 research papers presented in concurrent sessions. The winning two-page Policy Brief and the summary of the plenary discussion are also available here.
